Parc Régional Naturel des Ballons des Vosges

From the Col de la Schlucht to the Grand Ballon, the Vosges summits invite you to discover the countryside in a natural environment, with many sites to visit, farm inns, farm shops and, of course, numerous nature activities (hiking, walking, mountain biking…).

Route des Crêtes

Route des Crêtes

The Route des Crêtes is a communication route created during the First World War. The 88-kilometre Route des Crêtes des Vosges runs between Sainte-Marie aux Mines and Uffholtz. It passes through a number of passes, ski resorts and the Vieil Armand Memorial. Its highest point is the Col du Grand Ballon at 1,341 m.

Le Honneck

Le Honneck

Le Honneck is the third highest peak in the Vosges, rising to 1363m. It dominates the ridge separating Alsace and Lorraine. The gentle slopes are home to numerous Vosges cows and herds of chamois that can be seen at first light.

Le Champs du Feu

Le Champs du Feu

Situated between the Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin, this is a mecca for astronomical observers and a favourite with star gazers. A Natura 2000 site, it is made up of moorland and forests, rich in exceptional flora and fauna, and surrounded by a collection of sumptuous landscapes that have delighted generations of hikers.

Le Grand Ballon

Le Grand Ballon

At 1,424 metres, the Grand Ballon is the highest peak in the Vosges massif, and is well known to hikers and downhill skiers. At the summit of the Grand Ballon stands the Diables Bleus monument, erected on the initiative of the French Alpine Club and the Club Vosgien in tribute to the victims of the Alpine chasseur battalions engaged in the fighting of the 14-18 war. At the summit, the “Boule”, which is in fact a civil aviation radar, was conceived as a work of architecture by its designer Claude Vasconi and built in 1997.
